thinc! is the entrepreneurship and startup initiative of the university Mannheim. Founded in 2004 we are one of the oldest student start-up initiatives in Germany. Our approximately 150 members at the University of Mannheim represent a network that shares an enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and a creative and innovative way of thinking.

Honesty, appreciation and fairness are the cornerstones of our initiative. We expect our members and partners to treat each other with respect.
We are a member orientated initiative which means that the personal development of our members in the direction of their ambitions is our core focus. Students who are interested in founding their own company are enabled to learn more about entrepreneurship through various different events and already get closer to the idea of founding their own startup. Social networking within the thinc! family is also very important so that our members may find a potential co-founder or some very good friends.

Our founder talks are held at the university by successful founders from the Rhein Neckar region or even from abroad. They tell you more about their personal story behind their startup, their learnings and their success. Furthermore, they give you useful hints regarding the Dos and Don’ts of founding a business. You can always ask your questions and talk personally to our guests.
What does it actually look like in a start-up? Which start-ups are there in Mannheim? Where are the students of our university who have already started their own business? You can find out all this and much more on our Start-up Crawl!
Summed up in one sentence it is the open day of the Mannheim start-up scene. For one afternoon we visit as many start-ups in Mannheim and the region as possible. In small groups of up to 10 students you will get a direct insight into the start-ups and can get to know the team and the culture of the young companies yourself.
Imagine you can found a start-up without really having to take the risk! Unlike a normal workshop, the factorys are exclusively aimed at developing your founding skills. You will gain first experience in areas like idea development, presentation techniques or product building.
What can I expect of a workshop?Najel Nikolaus2020-09-23T09:37:02+00:00
Workshops enable you to work directly with a company on specific problems and case studies. In addition to the theoretical part of the university, you will learn the practical application of your knowledge and make valuable contacts.
A start-up crawl that lasts for a week and during which you visit start-ups in one of the largest start-up hubs in the world? This is exactly how you describe our Berlin trip in one sentence! You can expect a week of new impressions, interesting people and unique experiences in the german capital. From giant start-ups like Zalando to smaller start-ups with completely new ideas, inspiring founders and venture capital funds, our Berlin trip includes everything.
“Every course in a different place.” The Running Dinner is a community event where each student is assigned a Cooking Buddy. Each group prepares a course (either starter, main course or dessert) at the place of one of the group members for one of the many other groups. The remaining 2 courses will then be prepared for you by other Cooking Buddies.
Our motto is: “everything can, nothing must”. You are not obligated to do anything at all. However, you`re learning curve in the teams on start-up specific topics is very steep, and we can only recommend getting actively involved!
